Spilled Milk

Making Saturday morning breakfast my son asks for hot chocolate with 17 marshmallows (yes he is very specific) I hesitantly honored his request only because we were low on milk. I made his hot cocoa as he requested. Suddenly he leaps out of his chair to run to do the Mickey Mouse Clubhouse dance. There goes the hot chocolate all over the table and my kitchen floor. I was livid but didn't say a word. I had him go sit down and watch TV while I continued to make breakfast. Inside I was mad but really there is no use crying over spilled milk. I finally got around to cleaning up the mess. Gave him his food to eat and went on about our morning business. Quietly sulking in my room, my son peeps in and says, "I'm sorry mom. It was an accident. We didn't even pray today. " I couldn't possibly be mad any longer. I pulled him up in my lap kissed his little face and prayed for a great day.

Wow how awesome is it that my 4 year old knows that prayer and forgiveness go hand in hand. How often do we spill milk in our daily lives and forget to stop and ask for forgiveness and pray. What a blessing to have a child who trusts the power of prayer. He understood that I would pray and all would be forgiven. So glad that God does the same with us.

Proverbs 22: 6 Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it.
